Here's the movie review for Persepolis.I made my way to Shaw House with my friend Cynthia wherelse brother reached there straight from school alone.Yeah.I'm kinda surprised why he's alone-that he didn't brought his friend along.Turned out that there was a misunderstanding.He thought that only the two of us will be going.That only he himself had won that rwo tickets.It's just a waste of one ticket.But otherwise,things process smoothly.
Bought a pop-corn and two pepsis combo and shared it with my friend.Didn't finished it in the end but that wasn't the main point.The crux is that I've missed out most of the development in the plot in the beginning because I was too caught up with munching the popcorn than to be bothered about it.Didn't even know the protagonist's name till the end of the movie where credits rolled up.Yeah.That's how bad it is.
Realised that I've some misconceptions about the movie.It's about a girl who is born in Iran,not Iraq as I've previously stated.There was many different themes touched in the black and white anime.For instance,very few portions of the movie was in coloured pictures.This probably enforced the misery and doom during the war and the persecution of hard-core communists.
Other themes are implied somewhat explictly.Cultural differences-the protagoinst was unable to fit into the environment when she went to Vienna for studies.People's ignorance-Others looked down on her when she said that she's from Iran.Freedom of speech,courage et cetera-She spoke out bravely among teachers and schoolmates regarding why only girls need to cover their hair and entire body.Unfairness of life-She had many boyfriends and even married once.However,all of them were unsuccessful. During the end of the moive,after divorcing,she went to another European country.[can't recall name]
The entire movie was mostly pensive and poignant though many a time,the audience was in stitches after some hilarious moments.That should sums up the entire movie.
